FOUNDERS' PROFILE
Alvin Ang - Centre Director
Alvin has 17 years of teaching experience. He graduated from The University of Edinburgh with an Honours degree in Electronic and Electrical Engineering and Nanyang Technological University/National Institute of Education (NTU/NIE) with a Postgraduate Diploma Education (PGDE) (with Distinction) with primary school specialisation. Alvin enjoys the process of nurturing children and to see them develop holistically and with intellectual and academic excellence. He was the Science Head of Department (HOD) in a primary school before becoming a School Staff Devloper (SSD) in one of the SAP schools in Singapore. Part of his job as an SSD was to look into the training and career advancement matters of all the staff in the school. Alvin believes in achieving good results and believes that good partnership between parents, students and teachers is one of the key ingredients to academic excellence. Besides that, Alvin was awarded the STOMP Hot Teacher award in 2007, organised by The New Paper. He was also awarded the most Caring Teacher award organised by National Institute of Education in 2010 and 2012. Alvin was awarded the Outstanding Staff (Group) Contribution Award in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013. In 2013, he was awarded the Staff (Individual) Incentive Award. He is also a teacher with ISS International School.
Yvonne Cheak - Centre Manager
Yvonne has 14 years of teaching experience. She graduated from the NTU/NIE with a Bachelor of Science with Diploma in Education (Primary and Secondary Education) majoring in Physics and Mathematics. Yvonne is a passionate and nuturing educator who believes in developing students to excel in examinations. She has Specialist Diploma in Specific Learning Differences from DAS (Dyslexia Association of Singapore) and believes that students of all abilities will be able to achieve excellent academic results. Yvonne was awarded the Outstanding Staff (Group) Contribution Award thrice when she was with the Ministry of Education.
